This part saved us money. Ours had shredded but all other parts looked fine. I didn't need a whole assembly. I ordered this one part we needed and trusted YouTube videos and the instructions that came with it. No problems. The most difficult and time consuming step was getting the chain loose enough to pull off. Ladies, I would recommend having assistance with the chain part. It's heavy and awkward to do by yourself. |

It is a cheap and easy fix that comes with simple and comprehensive instructions. The hardest part was punching out the pin that holds the gear in place. I replaced this gear in both my Sears garage door openers, the first one a couple of years ago, still working fine. I just recently replaced this same gear in my other opener. |

The gear fits and works as the original. Installation was easy, about one hour or less. I will order from here again as needed. |

What can I say? It's a gear. The old one wore out. The new one fit as described. It is a bit of a pain to install just the gear. You will need some type of punch to get the retaining (spring) pin out. I used a modified nail and a piece of wood with a relief hole drilled in it to hammer on. If you are a mechanical dum dum, order the whole shaft with the gear already in place. It may be worth the extra few bucks. The lube included was a nice touch! Shipping was fast! :-) |
